Hello! My name is Taylor Starch. I had the privilege to be born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I grew up in a family friendly neighborhood, Pleasant Valley, right next to the beautiful Garden of the Gods. Four of my best friends lived within a block or two of my house! This made for hours of fun both during the school year and summer vacation. Some of my passions included: playing the trumpet, baseball, filming movies, and spending time with my friends. Still to this day, I am roommates with Lane Carter one of those friends I met in first grade. Throughout middle/high school I developed a strong desire to play competitive sports of any kind. I was selected as captain of my high school soccer team, played baseball, rode mountain bikes, and did anything to keep active since I have so much energy. Living at the base of Pikes Peak made it easy to enjoy the outdoors. On the weekends, I would spend time hiking, running, or biking through the Garden of the Gods. Halfway through high school I joined USA Cycling's junior development team the Front Rangers. This changed the course of my life as I started to train and race to become an elite cyclist. Through this experience I developed character, respect, a hard work ethic, and love for athletics. Alongside of sports my biggest passion was music. Since 5th grade I had played the trumpet. In middle school I started playing in jazz band! I continued to play through high school in both jazz & concert band and loved every minute. At Coronado High School, we received the highest rating at every single performance or competition and never once got a lower score. We even won the national competition for concert & jazz band at Disneyland! In 2006 I represented Colorado on the European Music Tour in got to play all around Europe for a month!! So to say the least, my heart is music.
Leaving high school, I had a strong passion for athletics/sports due to my training in cycling. I then started my degree in Health & Exercise Science at Colorado State University. Not only freshman year did I room with my best friend, Lane, but I also met two future roommates : Taylor Barnes & Erik Rithner. During college, I re-dedicated my life to my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and began to lead bible studies with the CSU Navigators (a christian ministry). Through this ministry, I was able to meet hundreds of people, most of which are now my closest friends and find purpose/hope for my life. I got to emcee events for the Navigators also which was really fun. At the same time I saw a poster at the Rec Center for a spin instructor certification. So I signed up, got certified, and fell in love with teaching. I taught throughout all of college . Also at CSU I was lucky to race with one of the top collegiate cycling teams in the nation. I represented CSU 3x at nationals. In 2008 we were almost national champions but took the silver medals. Racing my bike is one of the my biggest passions. In Spring 2012 I had the opportunity to live in Perth, Australia to work at the Western Australian Institute of Sport to complete my degree. I worked with some of Australia's most elite cyclists. Once my internship was completed I returned home to graduate from CSU with my bachelors degree. Well, that is a little bit of who I am and my own story! It is the beginning of an amazing adventure and I can't wait to see where God takes me.
